Saudi Board in obstetrics and gynaecology

The specialty (residency) programme: the Saudi Board, accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, joining structured clinical training with academic teaching to prepare the doctor for independent practice in obstetrics and gynaecology.

  • Structured clinical training across obstetrics, gynaecology, fertility and neonatal care
  • Supervised clinic and operating lists led by consultants from the start
  • Weekly consultant-led teaching, journal club and morbidity review
  • A named supervisor for every trainee, and regular documented assessment against SCFHS competencies

IVFSaudi Commission for Health Specialties

Reproductive medicine and IVF fellowship

A subspecialty fellowship in reproductive medicine and assisted conception, accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The fellow trains inside the embryology laboratory and fertility clinics and follows each patient through the whole treatment cycle.

  • Ovarian stimulation protocols, monitoring and dose adjustment
  • Egg retrieval and embryo transfer under ultrasound guidance
  • Laboratory work: ICSI, embryo culture, grading and cryopreservation
  • Male-factor assessment and surgical sperm retrieval
  • Recurrent implantation failure and recurrent miscarriage
  • Counselling, informed consent and the ethics of assisted reproduction
